Jeff Robinson and Dr. Gary Warner remain “pleasantly surprised” by how well I’m a Gangster is doing after injuring himself last Saturday in San Antonio. I'm a Gangster managed to buck off Fabianno Vieira in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round despite his back end going down to the ground twice in the later part of his 7.6-second outing. He was hobbling as he made his way out of the arena.
The bull was taken to Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine on Tuesday, where he was further examined. X-rays were negative and showed no signs of displaced disks in his back or any fractures.
“He’s not 100 percent,” Robinson said, “but for how he exited Saturday night, you couldn’t ask for any better.… He’s doing as good as he could be.” I’m a Gangster is among the Top 3 contenders for this year’s World Champion Bull. He hasn’t been ridden in 14 outs, and in half of those performances he was marked 46 points or higher. His average buckoff time is under 4 seconds.
I'm A Gangster's high-marked out came in the first event of the year, when he bucked off J.B. Mauney in the final round and scored 46.75 points.
